Proximity (Group exhibition) - SALA 2024 at The Light Room Gallery

This exhibition explores our sense of proximity as something unfixed, with artwork that reaches near and far. From the comforting closeness to the faraway landscape, these works push and pull at our sense of closeness revealing how relative this concept can be. (Images Stephanie Fuller)

The artwork “Untergang” (setting) transports the viewer into a celestial panorama. It references a sunset in the Australian outback when colours engulf you. It is a mystical time of the day when things come to an end. Sunsets are more than heavenly events—they embody transitions, cycles, and the dance between light and darkness. Ancient mythologies often depict this time of the day as a symbol of life prevailing over death. The sun, moon, planets, and stars are with us and all around us, they engage our imagination and hold a spell over us since humans looked up into the sky.
